Fylde website was launched in 2002 originally using open source software. The software was not meeting our needs as a business and it could not perform to customers need. With Web Labs the site has developed rapidly; moving from Standard to Transactional Status (source SOCITM Better Connected Report), gaining national recognition from Google for innovative use of weblabs CMS

New eGov website a big success

23/10/2006

Fylde Borough Council’s new web site has proved to be a major success over the last few weeks.

The new site offers more online services from planning applications to paying your council tax 24 hours a day seven days a week. The number of customers making on line transactions has increased by over 50% in the last two months. Launched in mid August of this year the new site was developed with Web Labs a national organisation that works with central government agencies. The key to the success of the site is the user friendly and accessible structure that Web Labs and Fylde have developed.

The number of visitors to the new site has increased by over 30% since the launch. A recent consultation with over 1500 residents revealed that 23% of customers get their information about the council from the web site and it was the third most popular preferred method of getting information. The new web site has the facility to manage on line consultations and on line polls.

The success of the new web site and the partnership with Web Labs will be shared in the new year when Fylde will offer community groups, parish councils and local councillors the facility to develop their own web sites free of charge.

Testimonial

The use of the web site has continued to grow month on month for several years now. In the future more people will contact the council through the web site than in person, in writing or even on the phone. It is essential that the site is high quality and easy to use for everyone... Fylde has developed a new web site and expanded the range of services available online 24 hours a day in response to customer demands. The future will see more and more business being conducted on line and the council is ready to meet this challenge. Paul Rigby, Cabinet Member for electronic government at Fylde
