Web Accessibility : Engineered web design

Design for all users out there: and tested by humans!

We place great emphasis on both accessibility and usability, so all Internet users can access your website and find what they are looking for and use your website efficiently. Web Labs can ensure your website design does not discriminate against disabled visitors to your site so that your web service complies with the 'The Disability Discrimination Code of Practice', and futhermore make sure that the coding of your website passes WCAG standards.

We can ensure your website is legally compliant under the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) and Accessibility 101, and strongly believe in adopting the W3C's Web Standards.

We are also familiar with other thrid party web standards such as the RNIB (See it Right) & Bobby Watchfire to name a few.

Our web accessibilty services include:

  • level A to AAA accessible website design and development & beyond
  • eInclusion consultancy
  • user testing for the visually impaired
  • screen reader optimisation including ARIA attributes
  • website maintenance
  • accessible content management systems
  • training for accessible web publishing

Web accessibility levels can vary but the practice of making websites usable by people of all abilities is one of our design strengths. Your web site will be correctly designed, developed and edited, all users can have equal access to information and functionality.

We offer a wide range of accessibility friendly - eInclusion - CMS modules that can lift your website so more users can access your publishing

For instance: Our server-side session style sheets offer large and/or enlargable text and images, so it is easier for users with poor sight to read and understand the content. We offer content modules that not only work well in speech browsers - they offer alternative information for physical disability including, Events Accessibility, 'Listen to this page' mp3 module. We offer a wide range of contrast and viewing variations so that a wide range of site abilities are catered for!
We also offer user accessibility testing with rigorous testing roadmaps, if you need assurance that your W3C / RNIB 'surf right' website does what it claims to!

Our internet applications are now more powerful than ever with jQuery and Ajax extensions. Web Labs ensure that ARIA attributes are used so that our advanced Web applications remain accessible and usable to people with disabilities. This is especially true for users with disabilities, especially people who depend on assistive technology like screen readers.

Our Ethos is make your design as great as possible and provide functionaility that makes the content available for all to find. We don't advocate to the lowest common denominator of design flexibility, and encourage you to set accessibility standards so that they are tested by humans - and not just web based validators! We know this is the common sense method as we have been engineering accessible websites before many competitors started to offer the same services, and we are confident that we remain an authority on the service. For more information about WACG guidelines we follow in the construction of inclusive websites please visit the Cabinet office website.

We can also train your publishers to write in plain language, so users with dyslexia and learning difficulties are better able to understand the content. When sites are correctly built and maintained, all of these users can be accommodated while not impacting on the usability of the mojority of users.
